Strong Towns Langley Team
Get Involved
Strong Towns Langley is growing, and we need people who care about their community to step up. Whether you want to help organize meetings and events, lead conversations about local issues, or advocate for positive change in Langley, there is a role for you here.
As a contributor, you will connect with neighbours who share your values, build relationships with local decision-makers, and play a direct part in shaping a more people-oriented, financially resilient Langley. No special background is required, just a willingness to show up, learn, and take action.
Interested? Reach out to James at james@strongtownslangley.org to learn how you can contribute.

Former Contributors
The following individuals previously contributed to the work of our group and are no longer active with the organization. Their contributions during their time with us helped establish and grow Strong Towns Langley.
Mike Parker
Former Local Conversation Leader · Served until January 8, 2026
Mike Parker brought his passion for urbanism and improved community planning to the group. Mike kept a close eye on council meetings, which helped our group stay on top of local issues and spot opportunities to make a difference in Langley. His focus on walkable neighbourhoods, safer streets, and his ability to see things from another perspective made him a vital part of our team.
Notable Contributions: Mike was instrumental in building our voice through thoughtful writing and analysis. His Substack articles, including "We Build for Game Day, Not Every Day", helped articulate the Strong Towns philosophy to our community and sparked important conversations about how we plan and develop our neighbourhoods.
Cheryl Wiens
Former Local Conversation Leader · Served until January 8, 2026
Cheryl Wiens spearheaded some of our biggest events and initiatives while fighting for sustainable, equitable and environmentally conscious development in Langley and the wider community. She provided valuable input in our letter writing campaigns and brought a strong environmental voice to our group, focusing on nature preservation as well as indigenous rights.
Notable Contributions: Cheryl led our water resiliency advocacy campaign, authoring the impactful article "Water Wise or Short-Sighted?" which received over 1,200 views and sparked crucial conversations about water management in our community. She organized a webinar for LEPS (Langley Environmental Partners Society) and planned a delegation to council on this critical issue. Cheryl also organized our groundbreaking Nature-First Cities event, which brought together community members, experts, and advocates to explore integrating nature into urban planning.
