James Hansen

Director, Chair & Social Media Officer

Walnut Grove, Township of Langley

James Hansen serves as Chair, working to build relationships with likeminded members of the community, along with councillors, mayors, and staff to advance the mission of our group. Using his background in software development, he has developed advocacy tools and has an analytical approach to policy, while as Social Media Officer, he takes a creative approach when producing content and promoting the group on social media.

Mike Parker

Mike Parker serves as Co-Chair, bringing his passion for urbanism and improved community planning to the board. Mike keeps a close eye on council meetings, which helps our group stay on top of local issues and spot opportunities to make a difference in Langley. His focus on walkable neighborhoods, safer streets, and his ability to see things from another perspective makes him a vital part of our leadership team.

Cheryl Wiens

MSc in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology

Cheryl Wiens serves as Director and our Communications Officer, responsible for managing our society's official records and communications. She has spearheaded some of our biggest events and initiatives while fighting for sustainable, equitable and environmentally conscious development in Langley and the wider community. She gives valuable input in our letter writing campaigns and brings a strong environmental voice to our group, focusing on nature preservation as well as indigenous rights.

City of Langley

Rainer Fahrenbacher is a passionate advocate for our group, representing us at council delegations and providing valuable feedback. Having previously fought against suburban sprawl in Abbotsford, he chose to move to Langley in search of a more urban, walkable, and people-oriented community. As the creator and writer of the Langley Union blog, Rainer brings a strong voice to community issues.

Mitchell Nurse

Mitchell Nurse is a passionate cycling advocate for HUB Langley, playing a crucial role in promoting cycling initiatives and helping us figure out ways we can make Langley more pedestrian and bike friendly. Mitch has also used his expertise in filming and video production to produce video content for the group.
