What is the Langley Urbanist Society?
The Langley Urbanist Society (operating as "Strong Towns Langley") is a registered non-profit society in British Columbia dedicated to promoting sustainable urban development, walkable communities, and fiscally responsible city planning in Langley. We're a volunteer-run organization passionate about making our community more people-centered.
How is membership different from subscribing?
Subscribing to our Substack newsletter is free and gives you access to our articles and updates. Membership ($10/year) makes you an official member of our registered society with voting rights, access to member-only events, and the ability to participate in organizational decisions. You can subscribe without being a member, and vice versa!
Can I just donate instead of becoming a member?
Absolutely! We welcome donations of any amount. Donations support our work but don't include voting rights or formal membership status. If you want to support us financially without the membership commitment, you can make a donation here. Of course, you can also do both!
How do I renew my membership?
Memberships are annual. We'll send you a reminder when it's time to renew. You can renew through the same Zeffy link used for initial signup. Your membership status remains active as long as your annual dues are current.
Do you have a physical office or regular meeting location?
We're a volunteer-run organization without a permanent physical office. Our public meetings are typically held online to maximize accessibility. However, we regularly organize in-person events like community bike rides, Jane's Walks, and member meetups throughout Langley. Check our events page for upcoming gatherings!
